“You’ve got to develop your voice and developing your voice means writing as you talk… It’s not difficult, just say something out loud and then type it in its words and all. Use your slang however you talk, don’t worry about grammar. Talk the way you talk and it’s more entertaining, it’s more fun to read and people will relate to it more.” – Mike Yanda

Great podcast! Some really good content, especially with the call to action stuff. People e-mailing you about grammar errors… so funny! Its the message not the commas!!!!!!!!
Laptop Empires
Haha thanks! Yeah if one more person emails me about my grammar I’m probably going to lose it. 🙂
Kelan Kline
Great episode! Totally wish I had this when we first started out.
Our blog has gone through some crazy changes over the last two years. From super personal to a more corporate informative blog. Definitely had WAY more fun being personal and sharing our story. So we are 100% back to being super personal.
Some great tips on opt-ins and email list. Something we have always struggled with. Loved the comment about “training your readers to click”. We heard this same line from our blog coaching with Sarah Titus.
Awesome stuff keep it up.

Loved this episode! Thanks for the practical tips and the screenshots of email marketing. I noticed the bangs recently and wondered what brought it about. I’m looking to change and improve mine too.
Keep up the great work!

Just listened to this on my way home from the airport, and immediately bookmarked it in my Podcasts app. GOLD. I’ve already hit up Chris from The Email Copywriter, about to get my email marketing learn on!
Laptop Empires
Glad you like it! Chris is the bomb.

Awesome content! We’re really struggling with lead gen right now and have tried a couple different giveaways to get email subscribers but to no avail. This is a good reminder of the importance of finding something that works.
PS — I love McGangBangs! Well actually I haven’t had one since college so maybe I used to love them. . .
Laptop Empires
Who DOESN’T like McGangBangs?! haha

Hey guys, I just subscribed to your podcast and listened to 2 episodes on my ride home from work. Great stuff! You’ve already hit on a couple of things I need to work on, like continuing to develop my voice. Plus, my email marketing skills so far suck and I have no free course or sales funnel. Can’t wait to binge listen some more episodes and learn some more!
Laptop Empires
Thanks Mike! Glad you like it so far 🙂

Great episode guys! Bobby, why wouldn’t you have used Twitter in the beginning? Also, did you start out using a personal handle or M$M? Thanks!
Laptop Empires
Hey Clint! Honestly Twitter is just a ton of work for traffic. It’s great for building some authority in your niche though and getting to know other bloggers. I started using M$M. I’ve gone back and forth about changing over to my name, but I’ll probably just keep it how it is for now.

I plan to take advantage of the podcast, but first I looked over the comments. Several noted that the grammar, comma’s etc., weren’t important. I disagree. I’m a writer, a published author, and if I want to get the attention of potential readers bad examples of poor grammar in a blog is not good. It doesn’t have to be formal, just correct spelling and understandable sentence structure.
